China Biopartnering 2014 Suzhou

The upcoming ChinaBio® Partnering Forum 2014 will take place in Suzhou, China, May 7-8 and will be co-hosted by the life science park BioBay.

The Chinese life sciences market

The Chinese life sciences market, spurred by national and local authorities, is gradually transforming from a manufacture destination, mainly of generic drugs, to a source of genuine innovation. Pharmaceuticals sales in China are increasing at about 20 percent per year and recent studies indicate that the country is expected to surpass Japan to become the second biggest pharmaceutical market somewhere in 2015. The number of partnering deals in the field have steadily increased from 40 in 2012 to 60 in 2013 according to a recent ChinaBio® whitepaper. The Suzhou event will undoubtedly trigger new deals between Chinese and foreign companies.

About BioBay

“We are not a traditional life sciences park, BioBay’s CEO Yuwen Liu said. “We are steadily re-enginnering ourselves. At BioBay our objective is to foster companies”. While BioBay is a real estate provider, its most important role may be as an incubator and accelerator. The park offers an acceleration platform that includes drug analysis and testing, services, drug delivery services and other professional services through collaboration with the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and the Suzhou Institute of Nanotech and Nanobionics. Foreign attendees of the ChinaBio® Partnering Forum 2014 should dedicate time to visiting this fast growing biotechnology cluster located in Suzhou.
